Hiking & Trekking in Pattaya

If you think Pattaya is all about beaches and motorbike taxis, think again. There are some surprisingly good hiking and trekking spots around here that don’t feel touristy or overrun. Try heading up to Khao Chi Chan, where the giant Buddha carving isn’t the only draw. The trails through the surrounding hills offer a quiet getaway from the city’s noise, and you’ll run into local farmers more often than crowds.

Another solid pick is the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden’s lesser-known paths. Outside the manicured gardens, you can walk through some shady jungle patches, especially nice in the early morning before it gets hot. Just bring bug spray,mosquitoes love the green here. Oh, and if you’re up for something a bit tougher, the trail around Pratumnak Hill gives decent views of Pattaya Bay, especially at sunset. It’s only about an hour, but the climb wakes you up better than any coffee.

One tip,avoid hiking in the middle of the day during the hot season (March to May). Early mornings or late afternoons are more manageable and way more enjoyable. Plus, you get cooler air and softer light for photos, if you’re into that. Honestly, farmers and locals you meet on these trails often have fascinating stories, so don’t be shy to chat.
